OBITUARY

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that Loyo UK announces the sudden passing away of an old boy (1975 set), Soji Lagunju (aka SOJ) who passed away on Monday 6th of February 2012, in Georgia, Atlanta, USA.

SOJ, as he was popularly called, was a mischievous, chirpy, fun loving, happy go lucky character with an infectious smile, who made everybody around him feel at ease. He was full of life, and enjoyed it to the fullest.

For those who were close to him, you could not have met a more humble, honest, hardworking human being, who always managed the work hard/play hard balance with ease.

He is survived by a wife and two children, a boy and a girl, aged three years and eighteen months respectively.

The funeral arrangements are as follows:

Service & Songs Friday 17th February 2012 7:00pm
Funeral Service Saturday 18th February 2012 10:00am

Redeem Christian Church of God

Family Praise Chapel.
Address: 3810 Waldrop Rd.

Our association

The Loyola College, Ibadan Old Boys Association, (Loyo UK) is made up of old boys of all ages and backgrounds, who have attended Loyola College, Ibadan, at any time of their lives. The school anthem says, "Loyola, we cannot forget the years we spent with you", and this we found to be true, especially the life long bond and friendships formed during these years. As a result of this, you are guaranteed to meet a long lost friend, or even better, rekindle a long lost friendship by attending our regular meetings.

Again, our anthem says, "Loyola boys will meet again, united ever more."

You only need to see the growing enthusiasm members (old and new) have shown since the early birth of the association, nearly twenty years ago, to see how true this is.

As well as this, the well being of the old school is parmount in our minds, also a prominent topic in our meetings. It has been very difficult to do anything of significance so far, since the school was taken over by the Oyo State government , this has not deterred us from ploughing on. The politics encountered in trying to improve the school is unbelievable, and this is true of most schools in Nigeria, and especially worse in Oyo State, any help, suggetsions, ideas etc are very welcome.
